Damascus, SANA- President Bashar al-Assad said on Thursday that the Arab popular organizations and\u00a0syndicates, which showed a high level of\u00a0awareness, play an important role in this stage of\u00a0the region’s history, pointing out that what\u00a0frightens the west are the principles, belonging\u00a0and adherence to identity and these principles\u00a0should be embodied by the organizations since they\u00a0are the actual and real representative of the Arab\u00a0peoples.<\/p>\n
Receiving members of the International\u00a0Confederation of Arab Trade Unions (ICATU), headed\u00a0by Secretary General Ghassan Ghosn, President al-Assad affirmed the important role of the popular\u00a0organizations and syndicates, particularly in\u00a0light of the current crises that the Arab region\u00a0is witnessing.<\/p>\n
In turn, members of the delegation said that the\u00a0ICATU struggles for the dignity of the Arab\u00a0peoples and defending their rights.<\/p>\n
They added that the ICATU stands by the Syrian\u00a0people in the face of the terrorist barbaric war\u00a0and the unjust siege imposed on them since they\u00a0stand in the front line, emphasizing that any war\u00a0against them in fact targets all the Arab peoples.<\/p>\n
The delegation members stressed that the union is\u00a0keen on facing the economic colonialism that some\u00a0countries are trying to impose on our region and\u00a0to work for a real Arab partnership to eliminate\u00a0poverty and unemployment.<\/p>\n
