New York, SANA – Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign\u00a0and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem met his\u00a0Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines\u00a0of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n
Talks during the meeting dealt with boosting\u00a0coordination and consultations between Syria and\u00a0Iran as the two sides discussed the latest developments in the Syrian\u00a0and regional arenas.<\/p>\n
Al-Moallem reiterated Syria’s adherence to the\u00a0priority of fighting and eliminating terrorism.<\/p>\n
For his part, Zarif stressed Iran’s continued\u00a0support for Syria and its efforts to reach a
\npolitical solution to end the crisis in it.<\/p>\n
In a separate meeting, al-Moallem and his Algerian\u00a0counterpart Ramtane Lamamra reviewed means of\u00a0enhancing cooperation between their countries in all fields.<\/p>\n
The two sides discussed the latest developments in\u00a0the region, with al-Moallem briefing the Algerian\u00a0Minister on the military situation in Syria and the armed
\ngroups’ breaches of the cessation of hostilities\u00a0agreement.<\/p>\n
Earlier, al-Moallem met the foreign ministers of\u00a0Iraq, Oman, Cyprus, Armenia, Russia, Belarus and\u00a0Sudan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n
