New York, SANA- New Zealand’s draft resolution on\u00a0Syria does not match with Russia’s conceptual\u00a0approaches, Russia’s Permanent Representative to\u00a0the UN Vitaly Churkin said.<\/p>\n
The chances of New Zealand’s draft resolution on\u00a0the Syrian city of Aleppo going forward at the UN\u00a0Security Council are still unclear, Churkin told\u00a0reporters after holding informal Security Council\u00a0consultations on Monday.<\/p>\n
“So far the prospects are unclear. Not even\u00a0regarding the adoption but also regarding further\u00a0work,” Churkin stated. “We have our conceptual\u00a0approaches and the text of the draft does not\u00a0match them”.<\/p>\n
After holding informal Security Council\u00a0consultations, New Zealand Ambassador to the\u00a0United Nations Gerard van Bohemen told reporters\u00a0that UN Security Council members still need to\u00a0discuss the main paragraph of the draft.<\/p>\n
Van Bohemen also noted that so far there has been\u00a0no progress regarding the draft resolution’s main\u00a0paragraph, and New Zealand is making efforts to\u00a0see if it could bring the UN Security Council\u00a0members closer on the issue.<\/p>\n
New Zealand’s draft resolution calls for an\u00a0immediate end to all attacks, particularly the\u00a0airstrikes on Aleppo city.<\/p>\n
Russia and the Syrian Government repeatedly\u00a0announced, during the past months, commitment to\u00a0the cessation of hostilities, but the terrorist\u00a0organizations have always violated the agreement\u00a0upon orders of the sponsoring countries.<\/p>\n
The latest the 3-day humanitarian pause in Aleppo,\u00a0which started on October 20th and was extended for\u00a0additional 24 hours in response to the UN and\u00a0other international organizations’ request, was\u00a0also breached by the terrorist organizations.<\/p>\n
