New York, SANA – Syria’s Permanent Representative\u00a0to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari stressed that the\u00a0Syrian government is innocent of the U.S. and western\u00a0accusations that it has committed crimes in\u00a0Aleppo.<\/p>\n
Addressing an emergency session of the UN Security\u00a0Council on the situation in Aleppo on Tuesday,\u00a0called for by France and Britain, al-Jaafari said some of\u00a0the Security Council member states are used, since\u00a0the beginning of the terrorist war against Syria, to\u00a0call for urgent sessions based on misleading\u00a0information and false reports and testimonies whenever the\u00a0Syrian army and its allies achieve advance against\u00a0the terrorist organizations.<\/p>\n
al-Jaafari categorically dismissed all the\u00a0“fabricated reports” used by the representatives\u00a0of the US, France and Britain that the Syrian government has
\ntargeted citizens in Aleppo city, affirming that\u00a0what the Syrian government, along with its allies, is\u00a0doing in Aleppo city and other Syrian cities is “practicing the constitutional and legal duty of\u00a0every government; that is to protect its citizens
\nagainst terrorism.”<\/p>\n
He made it clear that the Syrian government’s\u00a0first and foremost aim of opening safe corridors\u00a0(including for the militants), providing makeshift centers,\u00a0issuing amnesty decisions and delivering food and\u00a0medical aid in Aleppo is protecting civilians and keeping\u00a0them safe.<\/p>\n
Al-Jaafari criticized the UN Secretary General Ban\u00a0Ki-Moon for being in a hurry to issue statements\u00a0based on reports he could not verify just to the effect\u00a0of “defaming the Syrian government and its allies\u00a0that are fighting terrorism.”<\/p>\n
He dismissed that some sides, in their attempts to\u00a0help the terrorists, deny the Syrian government\u00a0its duty to examine and verify the identity of some of\u00a0those who are leaving neighborhoods in Aleppo\u00a0along with the civilians, especially that many reports
\nissued by the Security Council speak of tens of\u00a0thousands of foreign terrorists from more than a 100\u00a0countries operating in Syria, noting that this\u00a0examination aims at preventing those terrorists from infiltrating\u00a0other areas, and probably the territories of other\u00a0countries, and resuming their acts there.<\/p>\n
He cited tens of photos which show terrorists, who\u00a0had committed acts of “beheading innocent people\u00a0and eating livers”, trying to escape from East Aleppo\u00a0infiltrating among civilians in women’s clothes,\u00a0but they were captured by the Syrian Army.<\/p>\n
Al-Jaafari said it is utmost hypocrisy that the\u00a0envoys of some countries insist on accusing the\u00a0Syrian government of besieging its people and blocking\u00a0access to food and medicine while they continue to\u00a0deny the fact that tens of depots which were controlled\u00a0by the terrorist organizations in Aleppo have been\u00a0full of all kinds of medical and food supplies from\u00a0which the civilians were deprived.<\/p>\n
He stressed that it is not possible that tens of\u00a0thousands of terrorists fighting the Syrian Army\u00a0in Aleppo would have been able to survive and remain\u00a0there for more than four years, was it not for\u00a0some states at this Council continually providing them
\nwith all kinds of weapons and protection.<\/p>\n
He categorically denied “as groundless” all\u00a0“fabrications, allegations and hallucinations”\u00a0issued by some member states’ representatives about the\u00a0government allegedly committing acts of “reprisal,\u00a0intimidation and field executions against civilians,”\u00a0reaffirming that hunting and targeting terrorists\u00a0is at the heart of the Syrian government’s constitutional powers\u00a0“just like what u did in Nice, Paris, London,
\nBoston, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Cairo, Sinai, Bombay,\u00a0Tunisia, Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania.”<\/p>\n
For his part, Russia’s Representative to the UN\u00a0Vitaly Churkin stressed that the Syrian Arab Army\u00a0has reestablished control over the eastern\u00a0neighborhoods of Aleppo, reiterating that the\u00a0allegations that the Syrian Army has committed violations in Aleppo are\u00a0baseless.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, China’s Representative to the UN Liu\u00a0Jieyi said fighting terrorism is an integral part\u00a0of finding a solution to the crisis in Syria,\u00a0stressing that the international community should\u00a0give top priority to fighting ISIS and other terrorist\u00a0organizations.<\/p>\n
