Hasaka, SANA \u2013 Local sources at al-Malikiye city affirmed that heavy machinery belonging to the Turkish regime have bulldozed large areas of land in a methodical infringement that seeks to alter the course of the Tigris River in Ein Diwar village 190 km northeast of Hasaka city.<\/p>\n

The sources told SANA’s correspondent that Turkish heavy equipment and engineering vehicles entered Syrian territory in November and started a few days ago to carry out acts of vandalism and bulldozing in the riverbed of the Tigris in an attempt to alter its natural course, which poses a threat to the entire village of Ein Diwar.<\/p>\n

The sources explained that altering the river’s course will leave more than a thousand hectares of farmlands submerged under water, in addition to threatening a number of archeological sites including the Roman bridge in the village, which dates back to 1164 AD and is one of the most important landmarks in the province.<\/p>\n
