{"id":99606,"date":"2017-02-06T17:07:15","date_gmt":"2017-02-06T15:07:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/?p=99606"},"modified":"2017-02-06T17:27:45","modified_gmt":"2017-02-06T15:27:45","slug":"a-meeting-of-experts-of-joint-task-force-on-the-crisis-in-syria-starts-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/?p=99606","title":{"rendered":"Joint Task Force meeting on Syria in Astana discusses implementing cessation of hostilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Astana, SANA-Delegations from Russia, Iran, Turkey and the United Nations concluded on Monday a meeting of experts of the Joint Task Force on the crisis in Syria in the Kazakh capital of Astana.<\/p>\n<p>In a press conference following the meeting, head of the Russian delegation to Astana Stanislav Gadzhimagomedov said the participants in the meeting discussed the course of implementing the cessation of hostilities agreement, the special measures towards creating a mechanism of efficient monitoring and control with an aim to ensure an efficient implementing of the agreement and preventing any provocations.<\/p>\n<p>Gadzhimagomedov, who is also the deputy head of the Russian Armed Forces&#8217; main operational department, added that the meeting also focused &#8220;on mutual confidence-building measures to ensure an unimpeded humanitarian access&#8221;.<br \/>\nHe said that the participants agreed to continue to work on the separation of the so-called \u201cmoderate opposition\u201d and terrorist organizations in Syria and fight ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organizations.<\/p>\n<p>He added that Russia prepared two additional documents about monitoring the cessation of hostilities and determining the conditions and obligations of the parties to provide humanitarian corridors and other details.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that another meeting of the Joint Task Force on the crisis in Syria c will be held on February 15-16 before the meeting in Geneva.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Jordanian side came through with some very interesting information during the talks \u2013 it outlined the situation in southern Syria, the readiness of opposition regiments in southern provinces of Syria to join the cessation of hostilities and their readiness to conduct operations against international terrorist organizations such as ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra,&#8221; Gadzhimagomedov said.<\/p>\n<p>In turn, the UN representative at the Joint Task Force Milos Strugar described the meeting as &#8220;successful&#8221;, adding that the UN delegation participated in this meeting without full membership.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Lavrov: Astana technical meeting aims at discussing practical steps to monitor implementation of cessation of hostilities<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed \u00a0that the meeting of the Joint Task Force on Syria that was held in Astana earlier today at the expert level aimed at discussing practical steps to monitor the implementation of the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria by the guarantor countries.<\/p>\n<p>In a joint press conference with his Venezuelan counterpart Delcy Rodriguez in Moscow, Lavrov said Astana technical meeting is dedicated to part of those previous agreements that deal with the work of the Joint Task Force of the guarantor countries that aims at monitoring all parties&#8217; abidance by the cessation of hostilities.<\/p>\n<p>Lavrov noted that military experts should discuss with the participation of diplomats how to formulate a clear task of this mechanism, pointing out that the Astana meeting will seek to stimulate the Syrian comprehensive talks.<\/p>\n<p>On February 2, Spokesman of Kazakhstan&#8217;s Ministry\u00a0of Foreign Affairs Anwar Zhaynakov announced that\u00a0delegations from Russia, Turkey and Iran will hold\u00a0a technical meeting in Astana on settling the\u00a0crisis in Syria with participation of UN<br \/>\nrepresentative.<\/p>\n<p>For its part the Russian Defense Ministry\u00a0announced last Thursday that experts from Russia,\u00a0Turkey, Iran and the United Nations will take part\u00a0in the first meeting of the Joint Operational\u00a0Group on February 6 to discuss implementing the\u00a0cessation of hostilities agreement, finding\u00a0measures for monitoring the agreement and\u00a0preventing its violations, and solving issues\u00a0related to delivering the humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n<p>The final statement of Astana meeting that took\u00a0place on January 23-24 on the crisis in Syria\u00a0reiterated commitment to Syria&#8217;s sovereignty,\u00a0independence and territorial integrity.
