{"id":10227,"date":"2014-08-16T10:25:31","date_gmt":"2014-08-16T07:25:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sana.sy\/en\/?p=10227"},"modified":"2014-08-17T08:32:16","modified_gmt":"2014-08-17T05:32:16","slug":"holy-belt-of-virgin-mary-returned-to-um-az-zinnar-church-in-homs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/fa\/?p=10227","title":{"rendered":"Holy belt of Virgin Mary returned to Um az-Zinnar Church in Homs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Homs, SANA &#8211; A ceremony was held Friday at Um az-Zinnar church (Saint Mary Church of the Holy Belt) in the Old City of Homs to return the venerated relic that is supposed to be a section of the belt of Virgin Mary, which the church contains, as well as its icon to the terrorism-stricken church.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was held in the presence of Patriarch Mar Ignatius Afram II of Antioch and All East, the Supreme Leader of Orthodox Syriac Church in the world.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-10277 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/190.jpg\" alt=\"1\" width=\"305\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/190.jpg 305w, https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/190-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/190-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 305px) 100vw, 305px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The landmark Um az-Zinnar Church sustained severe damage at the hands of terrorists who had ravaged the Old City before they were forced out by the army.<\/p>\n<p>Patriarch Afram II congratulated the people of Homs for the return of the belt, saying &#8220;We are peace-seeking people, and we will rebuild the Syrian country on the basis of coexistence and amity, both Muslims and Christians.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He also congratulated the Syrians for accomplishing the presidential elections and electing President Bashar al-Assad, calling upon expatriates and displaced persons to return to their homeland.<\/p>\n<p>In turn, Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi stressed that &#8220;We will never abandon our history and civilization and we will counter vandalism with reconstruction.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-10278 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/218.jpg\" alt=\"2\" width=\"305\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/218.jpg 305w, https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/218-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/218-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 305px) 100vw, 305px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Al-Barazi said that about 40% of services in Homs&#8217; old city has been restored and many schools will open for the coming school year.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Patriarch Yazigi: Syria will remain land of love and peace<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Greek Orthodox Patriarch John X Yazigi of Antioch and all East called for abandoning hatred and spreading amity among the peoples.<\/p>\n<p>During a mass marking the Dormition of Virgin Mary held Friday at\u00a0 the\u00a0 Dormition Church of Virgin Mary at al-Sayeh Vally in Wadi al-Nadar area in Homs countryside, Patriarch Yazagi stressed the importance of coexistence and national unity among the Syrian people.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-10280 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/36.jpg\" alt=\"3\" width=\"305\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/36.jpg 305w, https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/36-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/36-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 305px) 100vw, 305px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that the Syrian citizens, Muslims and Christians, will remain in this land to scarify their souls for protecting it, asserting that &#8220;Syria will remain the land of love and peace.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He prayed to God to protect Syria\u2019s leader President Bashar al-Assad, hoping that peace and amity will prevail once again in the country.<\/p>\n<p>In a relevant context, a joint prayer was held at Tibbet Hanna village in Talkalakh countryside.<\/p>\n<p>The participants prayed to god to protect Syria and restore security and stability to it.<\/p>\n<p>They stressed importance of coexistence and unity among different denominations in Syria which foiled the conspiracy against it.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a prayer was held at al-Zaytoun Church in Damascus to celebrate the occasion, which was led by Melkit Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and all East Gregory III Laham.<\/p>\n<p>The Feast of the Dormition is celebrated on August 15 each year.
