Homs, SANA \u2013 Authorities retrieved two archeological items which terrorist groups had illegally dug out and buried under a farmland ground to the south of Palmyra city in the countryside of Homs.<\/p>\n
The terrorists meant to smuggle the items outside the country at a later time.<\/p>\n
A source from Homs province told SANA reporter that the two archeological items date back to the 2nd and 3rd centuries.<\/p>\n
One of the items is a medium-sized limestone statue of a Palmyran headless man wearing a traditional long dress and a cloak, holding a branch\u00a0in his left hand.<\/p>\n
The other item features a funeral bed with three busts carved between its legs. The bust to the right depicts a Palmyran man, also in the traditional outfit, whose beard and moustaches are shaven and holding a key in his left hand.<\/p>\n
The traditional dress and cloak also characterize the man featured\u00a0on\u00a0the bust in the middle, while the bust to the left portrays a Palmyran woman wrapped in a cloak over a long dress, holding a knitting equipment in her left hand.<\/p>\n
All three people depicted are shown holding the edge of their cloaks in their right hands.<\/p>\n
The source pointed out that the terrorists had covered the funeral tableau with cement to better hide it, causing its deformation.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
