Damascus, SANA- Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Dr. Abdul Qader Al-Husriya, affirmed that the virtual meeting he held with American banks was very good, with a large number of parties participating, describing it as a historic event, and the first such contact between the two sides after more than 50 years of a practical hiatus.
“The goal is to establish an integrated relationship with the American financial sector,” al-Husariyah told The National Magazine in an interview, pointing to the importance of the American economy, which represents 26.1% of the global gross domestic product.
Al-Husriya also pointed to the progress made by Syrian banks in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
He stressed the bank’s commitment to modernizing its systems as part of its vision for reintegration into the global financial system.
