New York, SANA-U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres has condemned the escalating Israeli airstrikes on Damascus, Sweida, and Daraa.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the U.N. News Center, Guterres expressed deep concern over reports of Israeli troop redeployment in the occupied Syrian Golan, as well as the continued escalation in Sweida.
He called for an immediate halt to all violations of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stressing the need to respect the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
Guterres stressed his “strong condemnation of all forms of violence against civilians” and rejected arbitrary killings and abuses that deny the Syrian people the chance for peace and reconciliation after fourteen years of brutal conflict.
The U.N. Secretary-General renewed his call for an immediate de-escalation, urgent measures to restore calm, ensure humanitarian access, and investigate violations with full accountability.
