Damascus, SANA- The Syrian Arab Republic has followed with deep concern and regret the bloody events taking place in southern Syria, these events are the result of the expansion of outlaw armed groups, which have used weapons to impose a fait accompli and have directly endangered the lives of civilians—children, women, and the elderly.
The attack on safe families, the terrorizing of children, and the violation of people’s dignity in their homes are condemned and rejected by all moral, legal, and humanitarian standards, and they will not be accepted under any pretext or justification, respecting civilians and ensuring their safety is an unquestionable national duty, and any violation of these values undermines the very essence of society and poses threat to the unity of the country.
The Syrian Arab Republic’s stance on those events stems from a firm principle; which is preserving civil peace, not the logic of revenge, it does not encounter to chaos with further disorder, but rather protects the law with law, and responds to aggression with justice, not revenge.
The Syrian Arab Republic continually affirms that it is a state for all its citizens, regardless of their affiliation or spectrums, from the Druze sect to the Bedouin tribes alike, and does not belong to any particular sect or faction… national responsibility requires that everyone be under the umbrella of one homeland, and under one frame of reference, the law.
In light of those developments, the Syrian Arab Republic calls on all parties to exercise self-restraint and prevail over “the sound of reason,” and it affirms that it is making tireless efforts to stop the fighting and curb violations that pose threat to the security of citizens and the safety of society.
In this context, the competent authorities are seeking to dispatch a specialized force to break up clashes and resolve the conflict on the ground, in parallel with political and security measures aimed at consolidating stability and ensuring the return of calm to the province as soon as possible.
Finally, the Syrian Arab Republic calls on all citizens, those of wisdom and responsibility, to unite to overcome this ordeal, reject calls for escalation, and work together to protect the diverse social fabric that has distinguished Syria for centuries.
