Damascus, SANA-The Embassy of Qatar in Damascus announced on Saturday the dispatch of food aid to Daraa province in response to the crisis of displacement from Sweida as a part of its humanitarian efforts. The aid is being sent in coordination with the QRC and SARC.
Seven trucks carrying 3,600 food baskets were sent to Daraa, the embassy explained. It indicated that this step comes as a part of the emergency response to meet the needs of civilian families displaced after the recent events in Sweida.
The embassy noted that the trucks will be handed over to the SARC, which will distribute food baskets to families in shelters in Daraa and its countryside.
It emphasized that the QRC is committed to continue its humanitarian support in various Syrian regions, in partnership with local and international humanitarian organizations, to alleviate the suffering of those affected by recurring humanitarian crises.
Prior to the announcement of a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire by the Syrian Presidency on Saturday, Bedouin tribes and armed groups in Sweida have clashed for several days, resulting in numerous casualties, the displacement of civilians, and the detention of a number of individuals by the conflicting parties.
