Syrian-Jordanian-American meeting in Amman discusses ceasefire efforts in Sweida province

Amman, SANA-Foreign and expatriates Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and the US special Envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack held on Saturday tripartite discussions that addressed the situation in Syria and efforts to consolidate the ceasefire that was completed at dawn today about Sweida province to spare Syrian blood and preserve the safety of citizens.

During the meeting, Safadi and Barrack affirmed their support for the ceasefire agreement and the efforts of the Syrian government aimed at implementing it.

They also stressed the Kingdom and the United States’ full support and solidarity with Syria, its security, stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity, and the safety of its citizens, and that Syria’s security and stability are crucial for regional stability.

Al-Shaibani, Al-Safadi and Barrack agreed on operational steps aimed at supporting Syria in implementing the agreement, in a way that guarantees its security and stability, protects civilians, and ensures the extension of state sovereignty and the rule of law throughout Syrian territory.

The operational steps included issues related to consolidating the ceasefire, deploying Syrian security forces in Sweida province, releasing detainees held by all parties, community reconciliation efforts in the province, strengthening civil peace, and delivering humanitarian aid.
