79 shelters set up for thousands of arrivals from Sweida

Damascus, SANA- Over the past few days, Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management has responded comprehensively to those arriving from Sweida Governorate following recent security incidents there, which caused detention of a numerous number of civilians.

Director of Civil Defense in Daraa, Shadi al-Hassan, told SANA that evacuation teams transferred families from Sweida city to safe areas distributing them to Daraa and Damascus countryside so that the ministry’s teams carried out maintenance work on a number of public facilities for this purpose.

Al-Hassan said the ministry supervised setting up of two humanitarian crossings in Busra al-Harir and Busra al-Sham, as emergency ambulance teams also provided services to transport the injured to health centers.

Regarding emergency relief, He noted that specialized teams have issued reports about numbers of arrivals and required humanitarian need in coordination with government agencies and humanitarian organizations.

He stressed that the ministry continues exerting efforts to provide the comprehensive humanitarian response in cooperation with local and international parties.
