Information Minister meets an elite group of media professionals in Aleppo, stressing the government’s interest in supporting the media sector

Aleppo, SANA – Information Minister Dr. Hamza al-Mustafa held an extensive dialogue with a group of media professionals and journalists in Aleppo province, in which they discussed the challenges facing media workers.

Participants in the meeting reviewed the challenges facing local media institutions in light of the difficult economic conditions, stressing the need to provide urgent support that includes material, technical, and logistical aspects.

Minister al-Mustafa stressed during the meeting that supporting the media in Aleppo province is at the top of the ministry’s priorities.

Al-Mustafa referred to the Ministry’s efforts to restructure the official media and transform it into public media that represents the voice of the government and society, announcing the imminent launch of the Syrian satellite channel by the end of this year.

The Minister also reviewed some of the Ministry’s achievements in recent years, including facilitating the entry of more than 1,500 foreign and Arab journalists, licensing 3,500 media outlets, and activating the operations of 40 Arab media outlets inside Syria.

The Minister stressed that the Ministry is committed to its social responsibility towards the approximately 700 media professionals who were martyred during the war.
