Information Minister: Civilians’ Lives and Basic Needs Must Remain Unexploited Politically

Damascus, SANA-Minister of Information Dr. Hamza al-Mustafa stressed that civilians’ lives and basic needs must remain unexploited by any form of political exploitation to further any agenda.

“We strongly condemn the reckless actions of some outlaw groups that seek to exploit social and political crises for isolationist goals by falsely claiming that the Syrian government is imposing a siege, allegations denied by the Governor of Sweida, Dr. Mustafa al-Bakour, who stressed the entry of aid and commercial transit movement during the past days, and its continued entry tomorrow morning at the Busra Al-Sham crossing.” Minister of Information said in a post on X.

“We also condemn the vile campaigns launched by certain malicious users on social media, who deliberately seek to gloat or ridicule over the suffering of our people in Sweida during the recent crisis, in an unacceptable repetition of Assad’s rhetoric of exclusion and incitement,” Dr. al-Mustafa said.

The Minister of Information clarified that criminalizing hate speech and sectarian incitement, regardless of its source, is a national priority. He emphasized the necessity of enforcing deterrent penalties against inciters and offenders without waiting for new laws to be passed by a popular parliament. He also underlined the need to build on the existing provisions of current laws to ensure social cohesion and national unity.
