Beirut, SANA- Lebanese officials have emphasized the importance of upholding national unity to confront those targeting Lebanon and Syria, firmly rejecting any attempts to incite strife.
This came in a joint statement issued by former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt, Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, the Mufti of Lebanese regions, officials from the Lebanese Democratic Party, and members of the Democratic Gathering bloc.
According to the Lebanese National News Agency, the statement affirmed “the necessity of national and Islamic unity to counter those seeking harm to Lebanon and its sister nation Syria, and to reject any attempts to provoke strife.” The statement also condemned “the bloody events taking place in Sweida between our Syrian brothers.”
The officials praised “the patriotic and wise stances issued by all Lebanese parties that have called for unity among the Syrian people, the avoidance of sedition, and the preservation of Syria’s territorial integrity—reflecting their equal concern for the people, state, and institutions of Lebanon.”
They further called on all Lebanese parties to work together and stand united in confront the Zionist aggression targeting both Lebanon and Syria.
