Strategic Regional gas transmission pipeline linking Syria to Turkey inaugurated

Damascus-SANA-In the presence of Syrian Energy Minister Mohammad al-Bashir, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov and representatives of Qatar Development Fund, regional gas transmission pipeline linking Syria to Turkey was inaugurated.

Minister al-Bashir said ”that the inauguration of the regional gas transmission pipeline represents a strategic step toward enhancing Syria’s energy security”.

He stressed that ”the pipeline directly contributes to improving the electricity supply and increasing operation hours at power plants, which positively impacts the economy and living conditions”.

Minister al-Bashir explained that ”the first phase of the project will witness the supply of approximately 3.4 million cubic meters of gas per day, as part of generous assistance provided by our brothers in the State of Qatar”.

He pointed out that” this amount will enable Syria to increase energy production by 750 megawatts, which will directly impact the improvement of the electrical supply by adding approximately four additional hours of operation per day.

Minister al-Bashir expressed his deep gratitude to the partner countries in this achievement—Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Qatar— and thanks for their fraternal support for Syria

For his part, director of the Syrian Gas Company, Youssef Al-Youssef, explained that pumping began at 8:00 a.m. from the Harjala border station, north Aleppo, to the thermal power plant in Aleppo, which received the first batch.

He indicated that ” the flow of electricity  began with an initial volume of 745,000 cubic meters per day, and that it will gradually increase over the next week to reach 3.4 million cubic meters.
