Sheikh Laith al-Balous: people of Sweida committed to Syria’s unity, far from any foreign agendas

Damascus, SANA – Sheikh Laith al-Balous, representative of al-Karama Guest House, affirmed that people of Sweida governorate are committed to Syria’s unity and sovereignty, away from any foreign agendas, and they refuse to be drag into any sectarian or political conflicts.

In an interview with Al Ikhbarya News Channel, al-Balous said “The atmosphere is calm in Sweida today after the ceasefire was implemented. This is a good thing. In the coming days, there will be civil initiatives for reconciliation and the rest restoration of security and stability in the governorate, the entry of relief and humanitarian aid, which has become an urgent necessity, is still going.

He pointed out that people of Sweida don’t call for Israeli intervention, but they cannot freely express their opinions, and that there is no excuse for demanding it.

Al-Balous explained that the humanitarian situation in the governorate is catastrophic due to the lack of relief aid and its improper distribution. Some families who support the state and national unity are being deprived of support.

He stressed the need for the return of Syrian state institutions to Sweida, and for continued efforts to control the security situation and implement the ceasefire agreement.
