Damascus, SANA- Syrian-Jordanian Committee on the Yarmouk Basin discussed in Damascus ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of managing shared water resources.
This meeting is the second one following the first meeting held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, last month.
The Syrian-Jordanian committee discussed the best investment opportunities in the Yarmouk River Basin, ensuring sustainable and equitable use of shared water resources and serving the interests of both countries.
It was also agreed to form a joint technical committee to conduct a comprehensive study aimed at benefiting the use of water resources from the Yarmouk River Basin.
The two sides emphasized the importance of continuing technical and institutional coordination and cooperation to enhance water security in both Syria and Jordan.
The meeting was chaired from the Syrian side by Osama Abu Zeid, Deputy Minister of Energy for Water Resources Affairs, the Jordanian delegation was headed by Hisham Al-Haisa, Secretary-General of the Jordan Valley Authority.
