Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates meets Tadamon massacre investigation team

Damascus, SANA-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani, met with the Tadamon Massacre investigation team, Professor Uğur Ümit Üngör and Dr. Ali al-Jassim. During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the Syrian government’s commitment to holding accountable those responsible for the crimes of the defunct regime, providing justice to the victims, and standing by their families.

Minister al-Shaibani highlighted the importance of establishing the National Commission for Transitional Justice and the National Commission for the Missing persons, and their role in ensuring the rights of Syrians and ensuring justice for victims.

For his part, Professor Üngör stressed the value of the security services archives and the need to engage experts to accelerate accountability for individuals involved in the massacres.

He expressed readiness to cooperate both academically and practically, drawing upon the experiences of several countries that may offer applicable models for implementation in Syria.
