Damascus Attorney General: Arrest of suspects in Murder of “Diala al-Wadi” marks a Significant Step toward Justice

Damascus Attorney General Judge Hussam Khattab affirmed that a specialized judicial and security investigation team has been formed to investigate the murder that took place in aMaliki neighborhood of the capital, Damascus, which claimed the life of Diala Salhi Al-Wadi.

Judge Khattab told SANA Tuesday that the team began investigating in the early hours of the morning under his direct supervision. He explained that after monitoring surveillance cameras and reviewing communication towers records, the suspects were identified, and it turned out that a female worker who frequently visited the victim’s home was involved in planning the crime with her husband.

He added that security forces arrested the woman in Jaramana area, and after searching her home, part of the stolen goods was found. Her husband was also arrested and immediately confessed to committing the murder. The two perpetrators were referred to the Criminal Investigation Department, where the husband appeared at the crime scene and confirmed his confession.

Judge Khattab concluded his statement by saying, “The arrest of the accused is an important step toward achieving justice. We affirm that we will not hesitate to hold accountable anyone who dares to undermine the security and safety of citizens.

e will work hard to ensure a fair and transparent trial. We will not forget the blood of the victims and their families. Justice is coming and will be on the lookout for anyone who violates the law.”
