Director of Afro-Asian and Oceanian Affairs at the Syrian Foreign Ministry meets Japanese Assistant Foreign Minister

Tokyo, Sana – Director of the Afro-Asian and Oceanian Affairs Department at the Syrian Foreign Ministry, Zakaria Lababidi, discussed with Japanese Assistant Foreign Minister and Director-General for the Middle East and North Africa, Toshihide Ando, the latest development in the Syrian Situation.

Lababidi expressed Syria’s appreciation for Japan’s humanitarian support it provided and the lifting of some sanctions. He called on Japan to lift all the sanctions to enhance mutual cooperation. He also reviewed the government’s efforts toward reconstruction and building a unified and stable state.

Ando affirmed Japan’s persistent support for Syria and its rejection of foreign interference in its internal affairs. He also underscored Japan’s commitment to the unity and sovereignty of Syria’s territory.

Ando hailed the Syrian government positive steps toward achieving political solution and national reconciliation.
