Damascus, SANA- Syria and Japan discussed means of enhancing and developing Syrian-Japanese relations in scientific and research fields.
That came during a meeting between Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Marwan al-Halabi, and a delegation of Syrian experts in Japan, headed by Dr. Ahmed al-Mansour at the ministry building.
Minister al-Halabi underscored the importance of cooperation with Japan in exchanging expertise and securing equipment for scientific research and research centers, noting to the impact of sanctions imposed on Syria in these fields.
In turn, delegation head Ahmad al-Mansour expressed Japan’s keenness to support Syria, reviewing scholarships and financial grants, educational, university, and medical services provided by Japan.
He underlined the importance of implementing the current agreements signed between Syrian and Japanese universities.
The delegation members, comprises academics, businessmen and media professionals, noted to the possibility of cooperation in the field of student exchange, as well the possibility of inaugurating a Japanese university in Syria given the Japanese people interest in learning Arabic language.
