Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Mr. Asaad al-Shaibani, said on Tuesday that the Syrian government is determined to protect all components in Sweida province, confront any sectarian or provocative discourse , and hold accountable all perpetrators of violations.
“I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to his Majesty, King Abdullah II, and his Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II for their generous reception, frank discussion on the future of Syria and their firm stance rejecting any efforts that pose threat to security and stability in our region,” Minister al-Shaibani said in a tweet on X following his participation in the Syrian, American and Jordanian meeting held in Amman today.
Minister al-Shaibani added “I also thank my brother, his Excellency Minister Ayman Safadi, and his Excellency US Special Envoy Thomas Barrack, for our constructive and transparent meeting today, which addressed the situation of the Syrian challenges we face at this critical stage.
He affirmed “Our Druze people are an integral part of Syria and have their own historical and national status and we categorically reject any attempt to marginalize or exclude them under any pretext or circumstance.”
The Minister went on to say that the Syrian government affirms its readiness to send aid to people in Sweida and to support initiatives aimed at restoring services, promoting reconciliation and bridging the gap with the State.
“ We reaffirm that justice begins with accountability, and we are committed to holding accountable all those who have committed violations because accountability is the best path towards a state of law and justice,” al-Shaibani concluded.
