Damascus, SANA – The Embassy of the Republic of Pakistan in Damascus held a reception Thursday evening to mark the 79th Independence Day at the Golden Mezza Hotel in Damascus.
Chargé d’Affaires of the Pakistani Embassy in Damascus, Mr. Umer Hayat Khan, congratulated the Syrian people on their victory and liberation after decades of oppression and suffering under the deposed regime. He pointed out that Pakistan deems Syria as a brotherly country and plays a role in restoring peace there.
He said that “Pakistan believes in the territorial integrity, independence, and sovereignty of all countries, including Syria, and that Pakistan strongly condemn any foreign interference in Syria’s internal affairs.
He noted that Pakistan is working in close cooperation and coordination with the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic, under the leadership of His Excellency President Ahmed al-Sharaa, and with the friendly Syrian people. He also stressed Pakistan’s full support for the new government in Syria.
He pointed out to Pakistan’s participation in numerous positive initiatives for cooperation, in education, health, and other vital sectors, and said that the exchange of bilateral delegations, regular contacts, and correspondents between the two sides all reflect the strength of the fraternal relations between the two countries.
He expressed his hope that Syria would enjoy complete peace and prosperity as soon as possible, without any conditions. He emphasized that Pakistan would always be happy to make a constructive contribution to Syria’s stability at all levels, calling on the international community to support Syria’s reconstruction efforts on a basis that respects its unity and protects the rights of all Syrians.
