Civil Defense puts out 80% of Kassab fires

Lattakia, SANA- Syrian Civil Defense director in Lattakia , Abdul Kafi Kayyal, , announced that firemen put out 80% of the fires that erupted in Kassab in the northern Latakia countryside.

Kayal told SANA reporter that firefighting efforts are continuing, as the cooling and monitoring operations are currently underway for the rest of the sites in the vicinity of Kassab, adding that firefighting and civil defense teams are facing difficulties in reaching some of the burning hotspots in Wadi Al-Nabain in the village of Al-Mushrifa due to its rugged nature.

He pointed out that those hotspots are considered simple but are currently difficult to deal with, and therefore monitoring teams will continue to follow them for the 24 hours to ensure complete control over them.

Firefighting teams attributed the spread of the fire to high temperatures, strong winds, and difficult mountainous terrain that hinder the arrival of vehicles, in addition to the presence of war remains and mines.
