Ottawa, SANA-Air Canada announced the gradual resumption of its flights. Following the government’s intervention to end a strike by 10,000 of its employees, which began Saturday, paralyzing the country’s largest airline.
AFP quoted Air Canada as saying in a statement: “The Canadian Industrial Relations Board has ordered the company to resume operations and called on all flight crews at Air Canada, as well as its low-cost subsidiary, to return to work.
The company, which operates direct flights to 180 cities around the world, indicated that it will take days for traffic to return to normal, and it expects some flights to be cancelled within the next seven to ten days.
Air Canada flight attendants went on strike yesterday morning, demanding better wages. The strike led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights.
