Geneva-SANA- Head of the UN Refugee Agency in Syria, Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, said that the international financial institutions and development banks’ support for Syria is key to allow the voluntary and sustainable return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
“I am happy to see the results of the International Monetary Fund’s first visit to Syria since 2009, to assess economic and financial conditions and discuss the support needed for Syrian’s economic recovery,” Gonzalo Vargas Llosa added in a tweet on X.
He stressed that the UNHCR has been in regular dialog with the IMF since early 2025.
