Joint Operations Room established to help combat wildfires in Lattakia province

Damascus, SANA-Amid the growing spread of wildfires in Syria’s coastal forests, the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management has announced the establishment of a joint field operations room, in collaboration with several active Syrian organizations. The initiative aims to provide logistical and on-the-ground support for firefighting efforts in northern Latakia’s countryside.

Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed al-Saleh, stated via a post on Platform X that the operations room has begun its work by securing water tankers to support firefighting teams, organizing volunteer squads trained in wildfire response, and deploying heavy machinery to create firebreaks and help contain the flames.

The Minister expressed his appreciation to the participating organizations and all individuals offering support and assistance during these challenging circumstances.

Firefighting teams have been working continuously for four consecutive days, despite facing significant obstacles, including harsh weather conditions, strong winds, and the presence of war remnants that hinder operations and pose serious risks to personnel.
