UN: We continue to engage with Syrian authorities to facilitate access to Sweida and provide aid

New York, SANA – United Nations Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq announced that the international organization continues to engage with the Syrian authorities and partners to facilitate direct access to Sweida and deliver aid.

The UN News website quoted Haq as saying in a daily press briefing: “Humanitarian workers had visited the Sayyida Zeinab area and plan to visit Daraa province in the coming days, where aid workers are supporting tens of thousands of displaced people.”

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) indicated that the previous day it had led a visit that included representatives of several agencies to Damascus countryside, to assess the needs and provide assistance to more than 500 families displaced due to the recent events in Sweida province.

Over the past few days, medical and relief aid has been delivered by Syrian Red Crescent teams to Sweida Governorate, and many people have been provided with support and assistance in shelters in Daraa city.
