Washington, SANA-US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff said Sunday: “There has been tension in Syria recently, but it is indeed on its way to being resolve.”
That came during his interview with the American television network Fox News.
Witkoff highlighted on developments in international and Arab issues related to the Syrian one, and said he hopes to achieve long-term peace in the Middle East before the end of US President Donald Trump’s presidential term.
These statements came days after a meeting in Paris between Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad al-Shaibani, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, and US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates indicated in a joint statement issued after the meeting that Syria, France, and United States affirmed their continued cooperation to ensure Syria’s unity, stability, and sovereignty over all its territory, and to support the capabilities of the Syrian state and its institutions to address security challenges.
