UN Warns: Worst-case scenario of Famine unfolding in the Gaza Strip

Geneva, SANA-The United Nations Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) warned Tuesday that the worst-case scenario of famine is currently unfolding in the besieged and devastated Gaza Strip, which has been devastated by the war of extermination waged by the Israeli occupation since October 7, 2023.

Agence France-Presse reported that the (IPC) explained in today’s report that mounting evidence indicates that widespread hunger, malnutrition, and disease are leading to a rise in hunger-related deaths in the Strip.

“Food scarcity has reached the point of famine” said the IPC and “aid drops over the Strip are insufficient to halt the humanitarian catastrophe, and that delivering aid by land is more effective, safe, and rapid” it added.

It called for immediate action to achieve a ceasefire in the Strip and to allow for a large-scale, unhindered humanitarian response to save lives, as this is the only way to prevent further deaths and end the catastrophic humanitarian suffering.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) is a global initiative involving 21 relief organizations, international organizations, and United Nations agencies. It aims to assess the extent of hunger suffered by the population.
