Damascus, SANA-The Syrian Ministry of Health, represented by Aleppo Health Director Dr. Muhammad Wajih Jumaa, signed a cooperation agreement with the Syrian-German Medical Association “Sigma” and al-Ruwad Foundation for Cooperation and Development. The goal is to develop the health sector in Syria and improve the quality of services provided to patients.

The agreement, signed in the presence of Health Minister Dr. Musab al-Ali, includes rebuilding the surgical and intensive care unit at al-Razi Hospital in Aleppo and equipping it at a cost of more than $500,000. It also entails providing cardiac catheters and supplies to more than 500 patients at Ibn Rushd Hospital in Aleppo, with a value of $500,000. Additionally, it supports medical education in coordination with the Syrian Board of Medical Specialties.

The Minister of Health affirmed in a statement to SANA reporter the importance of this agreement in improving the health sector, enhancing healthcare services for citizens, supporting several health facilities and reinforcing infrastructure.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Daddam, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Ruwad Foundation for Cooperation and Development, stated that the agreement contributes to strengthening community initiatives and is a key building block in alleviating patients’ daily suffering. He pointed out that Al-Razi Hospital in Aleppo is a central emergency hospital, with around 500 resident doctors who need training on advanced surgical techniques.

Aleppo Health Director Dr. Muhammad Wajih Jumaa said that the agreement reflects Syrian willpower, since the funding is Syrian and the expertise is provided by Syrians living abroad. He pointed out that the aim is to rebuild institutions and improve education, noting that the agreement will come into effect as part of the “Our Pulse is One” campaign in mid-August.
