Geneva, SANA-The Arab Parliament and Latin American and Caribbean Parliament called on the international community and the Security Council to immediately halt the war of starvation and genocide perpetrated by Israeli occupation entity against Palestinian people in Gaza Strip.
This came in a joint statement issued by the two sides, following a meeting between Arab Parliament Speaker Mohamed bin Ahmed al Yammahi and President of Latin American and Caribbean Parliament Rolando Miguel González Patricio, on the sidelines of their participation in the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organized by Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva.
The statement affirmed the convergence of positions between Arab and Latin American countries, and between the Arab and Latin American peoples, in defending the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
They emphasized the need to translate international rhetoric into action to change the “shameful” reality in the Gaza Strip.
It is noteworthy that, on the sidelines of the meeting, the two sides signed a joint cooperation agreement between Arab Parliament and Latin American and Caribbean Parliament to coordinate positions on regional and international issues of common interest.
