Ankara, SANA – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reiterated his country’s support for Syria and its people’s aspirations and legitimate will.
In a post on the X platform on Thursday, Fidan said, “today, I visit Damascus for the third time in the nine months since the overthrow of deposed regime. In each visit, I notice the progress Syria has made in many areas. He emphasized his country’s determination to deepen cooperation with Syria in all areas.
Fidan stated that he discussed with President Ahmad al-Sharaa, several issues, including trade, investment, transportation, and energy, as well as an assessment of possible steps at the bilateral and regional levels to rebuild Syria.
He noted that “the discussions focused particularly on security issues and internal and external threats to Syria’s sovereignty and unity.”
Fidan said, “The Syrian people want to seize this historic opportunity to build a better future. At the same time, the Syrian government faces numerous challenges to make the country more secure, stable, and prosperous. The international community, particularly the United States and European countries, is providing significant support to overcome these challenges. However, Israel is pursuing a policy of destabilizing our region.”
The Turkish minister called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility to curb Israel’s aggressive policies and halt its aggressions on the Syrian territory.
