Damascus, SANA -Syrian Health Minister Dr. Musab al-Ali discussed on Thursday with a delegation from Doctors Without Borders, headed by the organization’s Director General in Japan, Shinjiro Murata, ways to enhance joint cooperation to advance the health sector.
The two sides discussed the current health situation in Syria and the challenges related to access to healthcare. Minister Al-Ali presents the problems the Syrian health sector encounters, particularly the lack of specialized medical equipment, such as CT scans, MRIs, and intensive care equipment, in addition to a severe shortage of ambulances.
Morata stressed the organization’s support for Syria’s health sector and its efforts to secure its needs to provide the necessary medical services to patients.
Head of the Doctors Without Borders mission in Syria, Ulrich Kreppen, Dr. Zuhair Al-Qarat, director of the Planning and International Cooperation Directorate at the Ministry of Health, and a number of directors and stakeholders attended the meeting.
