1 dead, 29 wounded following Earthquake in Balıkesir, Western Turkey

Ankara, SANA-Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that one person was died and others were injured in the earthquake that struck Balikesir province in western Turkey on Sunday.

Anadolu Agency quoted Yerlikaya as saying that an 81-year-old citizen died after being rescued from a collapsed building. Twenty-nine others who were wounded have also been rescued, with none in life-threatening conditions”.

The tremor was measured at a depth of 11 kilometers (6.8 miles).

According to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD), the earthquake was followed by three aftershocks measuring 4.6, 4.1, and 4.0.
