Damascus, SANA-Ministry of Defense called on Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Tuesday to stop provocations against civilians and army personnel and to abide by agreements signed with the Syrian state.
The Ministry’s Media and Communications Department told SANA that two groups of SDF forces infiltrated approximately 2:35 a.m. towards Syrian Arab Army deployment positions in Tal Mae’az area east of Aleppo.
“This escalating action led to violent clashes in the area, resulting in the martyrdom of one army personnel” the Media Department said.
On March 10, the Syrian government signed an agreement with the leadership of the Syrian Democratic Forces to integrate the SDF into the Syrian army and integrate its institutions into the institutions of the Syrian State.
The Department clarified that “Syrian Arab Army units responded, within the rules of engagement, to the sources of fire, thwarted the infiltration, and forced the groups advancing towards Tal Mae’az site to withdraw to their original positions”.
The Defense Media Department pointed out that “This new escalation comes as the SDF continues targeting Syrian army positions in Manbij and Deir Hafer areas on a regular basis”, and periodic closure of some roads in the city of Aleppo near their positions in Allyramoun roundabout in contradiction with signed agreements.
“Ministry of Defense stresses the necessity for the SDF to adhere to the agreements signed with the Syrian state and to cease infiltration, shelling, and provocations targeting army personnel and civilians in Aleppo and its eastern countryside” the Media Departments said warning that “the continuation of these actions will lead to new consequences”.
