Lattakia, SANA- Security forces in Lattakia Governorate have arrested Naser Hani Ruslan, accused of participating in serious abuses against civilians during the conflict, the Interior Ministry said Wednesday.
According to the statement, Ruslan was a member of a militia affiliated with the former regime and allegedly took part in operations against areas held by Syrian revolution forces, including the mutilation of bodies.
Authorities said Ruslan has been referred to the competent bodies to complete investigations in preparation for transferring him to the judiciary. Officials added that the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to ensure accountability for crimes committed during the war.
