Germany welcomes UN report on the Syrian coast events

Berlin, SANA – Germany welcomed the report issued by the UN Syria Commission on the coast events, commending the strong support provided by the Syrian government to complete the investigation.

Chargé d’Affaires of the German Embassy in Damascus, Clemens Hach, tweeted on X: “The investigation provides Syria and its international partners with a complete and transparent picture of the events,” noting that the Syrian government reached similar findings in its own investigation into the coast events.

The German diplomat called for a “follow up of the recommendations of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the coast events to ensure accountability and take all necessary precautions to avoid a recurrence of such incidents”.

“The investigation should serve as an example to ensure similar transparency and accountability regarding the recent events in Sweida”, he added.

The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria confirmed that the events in the coast last March witnessed acts of violence and violations that may amount to war crimes, commending the Syrian government’s cooperation and full access to affected areas and relevant sites.
