Erdogan welcomes Alaska summit on ending Russia-Ukraine war

Ankara, SANA – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed the summit held between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin at a military base in Alaska, affirming Turkey’s readiness to extend all forms of support toward achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Commenting on the summit via his account on the platform X Saturday, President Erdogan said: “The Trump-Putin summit has given renewed momentum to efforts aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war.”

He further expressed hope that “this new phase will lay the foundation for lasting peace,” highlighting the importance of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s participation in the peace process.

The talks between Trump and Putin, held under the theme “Pursuing Peace,” lasted nearly three hours and were described by both sides as “constructive and fruitful,” although no specific outcomes were officially announced.
