Umayyad Mosque in Damascus Honors 31 Quran Memorizers

Damascus, SANA – The Umayyad Mosque in Damascus hosted a ceremony Saturday evening honoring the winners of the first post-liberation “Victory Quranic” Contest, dedicated to personnel from the Interior and Defense Ministries.

The event was attended by Minister of Endowments Dr. Muhammad Abu al-Khair Shukri, Damascus Governor Maher Marwan Idlebi, a number of senior officials, and prominent religious scholars. A total of 31 winners were honored during the ceremony.

“The Holy Quran is a way of life that guides us to the best path,” Minister Shukri said, adding that “those who memorize and understand the Quran are following the path of the prophets.”

Officials attending the ceremony congratulated the winners, emphasizing that memorizing the Quran strengthens national belonging and marks a renewed commitment to serving both religion and country.
