Brasilia, SANA – Brazil has strongly condemned the Israeli occupation’s settlement scheme, which seeks to separate occupied Jerusalem from its geographical surroundings in the West Bank, stressing that the move undermines international efforts to establish a Palestinian state.
In a statement issued Sunday, the Brazilian government said: “This colonial scheme threatens the unity of Palestinian territories, divides the West Bank into northern and southern areas, and isolates East Jerusalem from the rest of these territories.”
The statement described the plan as a dangerous geopolitical measure that violates international law and threatens the very existence of a future Palestinian state. It further recalled the opinion of the International Court of Justice, which affirmed that Israel must immediately halt all settlement activity and recognized the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent and sovereign state.
