Damascus, SANA – Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed al-Saleh, announced the complete extinguishing and cooling of forest and woodland fires in the western countryside of Hama. He confirmed that the area will remain under close monitoring to prevent any recurrence.
In a post on the platform X, Minister al-Saleh conveyed profound sorrow over the damage caused by the fires to residents’ property, livelihoods, and agricultural lands, describing them as the primary source of income for local communities.
He extended heartfelt thanks to firefighting brigades and civil defense teams, as well as all government agencies that contributed to controlling the fires. The Minister also appreciated to residents who stood alongside firefighting teams, underscoring the unity and resilience of society.
The recent fires have inflicted severe damage on vegetation, destroying large areas of natural forests and fruit crops in western Hama countryside. They also posed serious threats to homes and livelihoods in several villages, making their containment a top priority for safeguarding both the environment and the lives of residents.
