Israeli demonstrations demand prisoner swap deal and to end Gaza War

Occupied Jerusalem, SANA – Hundreds of Israeli demonstrators blocked streets in occupied Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and other areas on Sunday in response to calls from families of soldiers held in Gaza. Protesters demanded an immediate halt to the war on Gaza and the conclusion of a prisoner exchange deal.

According to Israeli media, demonstrations were held at more than 350 locations, including occupied Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, the Negev, and the Galilee. Protesters also gathered outside the homes of ministers in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.

In a statement, the Families of Captive Soldiers Committee announced plans to set up a protest tent near the Gaza border on Monday. “Families will sleep there and continue the struggle to bring back their loved ones,” the statement said. “We have paid a heavy price and will not allow more families to suffer. We are tired of slogans—the people alone will bring back the captives.”
