Education Ministry and UNICEF discuss a mechanism for assessing school buildings in Syria.

Damascus, SANA – The Director of School Buildings at the Syrian Ministry of Education, Engineer Mohammed Al-Hanoun, discussed on Monday the state of school buildings and the mechanisms for their restoration and rehabilitation with a delegation from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Al-Hanoun reviewed, during the meeting, the mechanism for assessing school buildings, preparing a map of priorities and needs in destroyed areas, in addition to holding periodic meetings to track projects, distribute them across governorates, and discuss implementation mechanisms.

The UNICEF delegation emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the organization and the Ministry of Education in the field of school restoration and rehabilitation, in order to ensure structural safety and improve educational conditions in affected areas.
