Dujarric: Israel must enable safe delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza

New York,SANA-UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said in his daily press briefing that UN humanitarian operations in Gaza are under severe pressure. Aid workers face grave security risks, and civilians approaching trucks are often shot at. Crossings remain unreliable, while essential supplies are routinely delayed or blocked by Israeli forces, when conditions permit, urgent priority will be given to providing food, water, shelter, and medical care.He stressed that Israel must allow the safe and unimpeded delivery of aid, as well as the entry of essential equipment and fuel.

Regarding the health situation in Gaza, Dujarric reported that hospitals are under tremendous pressure and are unable to accommodate the influx of patients, including those wounded in the hostilities, due to shortages of supplies and food.

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has warned that severe food deprivation, a devastated healthcare system, and immense psychological stress are leading to catastrophic consequences for pregnant women and newborns. Even people with disabilities are denied food, assistive devices, or healthcare.

Measures must therefore be taken to protect civilians, including the tens of thousands of elderly and disabled people in Gaza Strip, who need assistance to preserve their lives and dignity.
