Hasaka, SANA- Commander of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, confirmed that unified Syria will have one army and one flag, pointing out that communication channels with the Syrian government are open daily.
In an interview with Al Arabiya, Abdi explained that the agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces stressed the unity of Syria under one unified army, not two armies, within the framework of military centralization and one flag, stressing the importance of sovereign institutions remaining centralized in the capital, Damascus’’.
The SDF Commander pointed out that “the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into the Syrian army
requires some time and constitutional guarantees,” adding that “Integrating 100,000 militants into the Ministry of Defense is a major process that requires careful study, therefore the mechanism for integration into the Syrian army will be discussed at the next Paris meeting”.
Abdi added that ‘’the Syrian Democratic Forces have submitted an official request for the return of government institutions to the areas of Raqqa, Hasaka, and Deir Ezzor, and that everyone agrees on the unity of Syria”.
Abdi described his meeting with President Ahmed al-Sharaa as positive, denying that he had received any offers to assume new positions from the government. He also praised Saudi Arabia’s positive role, especially after its efforts to lift sanctions on Syria.
