Jordan condemns Ongoing Israeli attacks and restrictions on Jerusalem’s Christian Community

Amman, SANA – The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the continued Israeli assaults on Christians in Jerusalem, including the recent decision to freeze the bank accounts of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate. The ministry described the move as a blatant violation of the historical and legal status quo governing Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.

Ministry spokesperson Sufyan Qudah reaffirmed Jordan’s unequivocal rejection and strong condemnation of Israel’s illegal actions, stressing that the occupying power has no sovereignty over the West Bank or over the Arab, Islamic, and Christian holy places in occupied Jerusalem.

Qudah called on the international community to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities by compelling Israel to immediately halt its aggression on Gaza, its unlawful unilateral measures in the occupied West Bank, and its violations of Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem. He also reiterated Jordan’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state on their national soil.
